# Wallet of Agents terms of service

Version 2026-10-26. These terms cover the hosted Wallet of Agents service at walletofagents.dev ("WoA", "we"). By signing up for, paying for or using a name you agree to them. If your agent signs up on its own, the person or organisation that runs the agent is bound by them.

## 1. What Wallet of Agents is

WoA is software. It gives your agent a Lightning address of the form name@walletofagents.dev, receipts for payments to that address, a discovery listing and a payment history. It answers Lightning address requests by asking your own wallet to create an invoice.

## 2. We never hold your funds

- You keep your own wallet and your own keys. WoA never holds a seed, an unlock secret or any permission to spend.
- You connect your wallet with a receive-only connection. WoA refuses any connection that can pay. WoA only asks your wallet to create invoices and to look up whether they were paid.
- Payers pay your wallet directly. Sats never pass through WoA, so WoA cannot pay out, freeze, reverse or recover them.
- If you choose a wallet run by someone else, that provider holds your funds, not WoA. Read its terms.
- Because WoA answers requests for your address, a compromised WoA server could hand a payer an invoice that is not yours. To limit this we publish the node key your invoices must be payable to, keep a signed public registration log and refuse invoices from an unexpected node key.

## 3. Your part

- Keep your wallet online, funded and able to receive. You fund your own liquidity.
- Keep your account secret safe. It cannot spend, but it controls your account. If it leaks, rotate it. If your wallet connection leaks, revoke it in your wallet.
- Keep your recovery key, if you set one, offline. Never sign a wallet change challenge you did not ask for.
- Use the service lawfully. Do not impersonate others, infringe names or attack the service.

## 4. Prices and payment

- Prices are in sats and listed at /pricing and /woa/v2/pricing. You pay each item by Lightning invoice.
- You buy fixed periods. WoA keeps no stored balance for you. Paid time is not refundable, except where the law requires it.
- We may change prices with at least 30 days' notice on the site and in llms.txt. A change never affects time you have already paid for.
- Creating an account and claiming a name of 5 characters or more cost nothing and need no payment up front. The first 30 days of the Lightning address plan are included.
- Free tier: after that, the Lightning address plan renews for free for the next 30 days while your address received 400,000 sats or less in the 30 days before the renewal. Above that, the next 30 days cost 1,000 sats. We count only our own signed receipts for payments to your WoA address that we saw settle; payments made to your wallet in other ways are not counted, so the count can only be lower than what you received. A free renewal happens on its own when a period ends, as long as a wallet is connected that answered WoA in the last 30 days (an invoice request or a reconnect); otherwise the normal lapse rules in section 6 apply. You can also renew by hand at the end of a period. Pro and the yearly fee for 3 and 4 character names are not part of the free tier.
- Receiving payments, leaving, disconnecting your wallet, exporting your history and moving from a WoA custodial wallet cost nothing.

## 5. Limits

- A single payment to a WoA address can be at most 21,000 sats.
- We rate-limit requests to protect the service and your wallet.
- Free sign-ups are limited per IP address and per day across the service.

## 6. When a plan lapses

This is the default rule. We may change it with 30 days' notice.

- For 7 days after your paid time ends (the grace period), your address keeps working.
- After the grace period your address stops resolving: payers get an error, never an invoice. Your name is held for you. Renew while it is held and it switches back on.
- Your name is released only when both are true: at least 30 days have passed since the grace period ended, and nobody has tried to pay the name for 90 days in a row. Every payment attempt restarts the 90-day count. When it is released, your wallet connection is deleted, the release is shown in the public log, and someone else may take the name.
- For 3 and 4 character names, the yearly name fee counts as part of your paid time.

## 7. Leaving

- You can leave at any time, for free, with one call (POST /woa/v2/account/leave). Export your history first, or use the copy included in the reply.
- When you leave, your address stops at once and we delete your wallet connection. Revoke it in your wallet too.
- Your name is held so nobody can pretend to be you, then released on the same rule as a lapsed plan: at least 30 days, and only after 90 days in a row with no payment attempts.

## 8. Names

- Names are 3 to 32 characters. Some names are reserved. 3 and 4 character names carry a yearly fee.
- We may suspend or reclaim a name that impersonates someone, infringes rights, or is used for fraud or abuse.

## 9. Suspension

We may suspend an address that is used for fraud, abuse, illegal activity or attacks on the service. Where we can, we tell you first through your account status.

## 10. No warranty

WoA is provided as is. We aim for high availability but do not promise it. Your address does not work while your wallet is offline. To the extent the law allows, our total liability is limited to the fees you paid us in the 90 days before the claim, and we are not liable for lost profits or for funds held by your wallet or its provider.

## 11. Changes to these terms

We publish a new version with a new version date. Material changes get at least 30 days' notice. Sign-up asks your agent to accept the current version.

Changelog:
- 2026-10-26: added the free tier for the Lightning address plan (section 4). It only removes charges, so it applies at once. Nothing else changed.
- 2026-10-21: previous version.

## 12. Changing the wallet behind your name

- Your name is bound to the node key of the wallet you connect first. The account secret alone cannot move your address to a wallet with a different node key.
- To change it, sign a one-time challenge with the node key your name is bound to now, or with a recovery key you registered earlier. Without one of these, the change is refused and your address keeps pointing to your current wallet.
- Adding or changing a recovery key after a wallet is bound needs the same kind of signature.
- If you have lost both, you can ask for a time-locked change. It is shown in the public log and applies after 7 days unless you, the bound node key or the recovery key cancel it. Anyone holding your account secret can also ask for one, so watch the log for your name. We may change the wait with 30 days' notice.
- If your account secret is stolen or lost, you can reset your account secret with a signature from the node key your name is bound to or from your recovery key. The old secret stops working, any pending time-locked change is cancelled, a Nostr key on the account is removed, and for 24 hours rotating the secret, changing the Nostr key and time-locked changes are paused. The reset is shown in the public log.
- A change signed by the recovery key alone (moving your address to another wallet, resetting the account secret, or replacing or removing the recovery key) does not take effect at once. It is shown in the public log and the directory, and applies after 72 hours unless your account secret or the bound node key cancels it. The recovery key cannot cancel it, and it cannot undo a change signed by the node key. Changes signed by the bound node key still apply at once. We may change the wait with 30 days' notice.
- We cannot recover a lost recovery key or tell a lost wallet apart from a stolen secret. Keep your keys safe.
